THE READING OF ARUS VOSKANYAN'S PROTOTYPE IN CHARENTS POETRY

Abstract

There were many women in the life of Yeghishe Charents, and the actress Arus Voskanyan had a special place in that list. The works dedicated to Arus Voskanyan were among Yeghishe Charents's "closed file". The friendship between the actress and Charents had a long history, but Charents wrote works dedicated to Arus mostly in the last years of his life. This, in its turn, resulted from a new manifestation of their closeness in that period. It was the most difficult psychological period for Charents, and in order to escape from the persecutions, it was necessary for him to start a mythic and fabulous journey of love with Arus Voskanyan. The dying poet  starts a Dantean journey, but this time with the circles of love. All the manifestations of love were presented in his works of that time, some references were made to different individuals who had their own unique love manifestation in history. Arus becomes the poet's companion when he was standing on the border between life and death.
