WORLD TRENDS IN DEFENSE TECHNOLOGIES AND SOME INSTITUTIONAL APPROACHES TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE MILITARY INDUSTRY OF ARMENIA

Abstract

The article presents transformations of the world military machine under the influence of technological trends, which have led to multifaceted changes on the battlefield. In this context, the problems of the defense industry of the Republic of Armenia are discussed in relation to the directions and the mechanism of transformations in accordance with global trends in the field of military technologies. Taking into account the fact that at present Armenia cannot create an integral sectoral structure of military production, since such a structure can only be developed under such conditions as an appropriate military-economic potential, a high level of development of science and technology, highly qualified scientific personnel and labor resources, it is recommended, given  the limitations of the sectoral structure of military production, to carry out the most appropriate and least costly transformations in the military sphere in accordance with world technological trends, the implementation of which will meet the needs of our own defense in terms of advanced weapons, as well as contribute to the development of the civilian sector of the economy, increasing the country's export potential.

In connection with the need to increase the country's readiness for the challenges caused by global technological trends, it is justified to create technology platforms at universities and research institutes and, for this purpose, allocate funds for research and development in the defense budget. For the development of technology platforms, an effective partnership between the academic, corporate and government sectors is considered important.
