Abstract

The article presents the advantages of debate as a teaching method that allows the learner to acquire not only deep and comprehensive knowledge about the subject, but also to apply this knowledge directly (“here and now”). According to the author, the debate helps to create active civil position, to be honest, show respect and tolerance. The method considers teaching as a process of knowledge, abilities, skills and personal attributes of the learner’s development process where the teacher is speaking as the head of this process.
