SOME PROBLEMS OF PREVENTION OF NATURAL LATENCY OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

Abstract

The results of the authors' study show that domestic violence is one of the crimes characterized by a high natural latency. The factors that determine the high natural latency of domestic violence are the lack of legal awareness, a low level of trust in law enforcement agencies, the victims’ fear of the criminal's revenge, a sense of shame and other factors. For the sake of preventing the factors included in the causal complex of natural latency of domestic violence, the authors propose to take educational, informative, and organizational measures. In particular, it is proposed to take measures aimed at increasing the level of legal awareness of the people by suggesting the necessity to apply to the competent authorities for protection of their rights. It is also crucial to take measures to increase the public’s trust in law enforcement agencies and cooperation between people and law enforcement agencies.
