The study of metaphors has always been within the scope of interest not only of linguists but also of researchers of other sciences. Metaphors by their complex semantic structure are aimed at enriching imaginary language and style of a literary work. They are elements which express the way of thinking and thereby make it possible to study the author’s writing style. In the present research a number of theories dedicated to metaphors are explored, an attempt to assess their significance within the structure of literary work, to analyze various approaches to metaphor translation and to work out a corresponding methodology is carried out. The object of the research are numerous examples containing metaphorical meaning which are taken out from Jack London’s novel “The Star Rover” and their corresponding Armenian equivalents from the translation in Armenian. After careful analysis of the mentioned examples a close connection between the successful translation and the methodology applied by the translator was found. The role of the mentioned methodology is highly important for the process of conveyance of both separate parts and the global sense of the original work of literature.
