Abstract

The article refers to the process of releasing a person from criminal responsibility based on the expiration of the statute of limitations. This basis was analyzed in advance, so to speak, the background of the emergence of the idea from the point of view of international organizations. The dynamics of the respective domestic legislative development of the subject in question are included, noting the main changes, features and their justifications. At the same time, an analysis of the existing legal definitions in different foreign countries was conducted, and the results were compared with the domestic legislative model in a comparative legal context, leading to certain recommendations being proposed and substantiated.
