The present article focuses on the scientific approaches related to the principles of classification and perception of phraseological units that serve as a theoretical base for the study of this paper. It studies the phraseological transformations of phraseological units with the component "head" called variations, emphasizes the systematic correlation of variation and synonymy of phraseological units with the above-mentioned component in Spanish and Armenian and carries out a thorough analysis of phraseological units with this component on the level of language, uncovering the similarities and differences of phraseological variations between these two languages. By virtue of the systematic correlation of phraseological units with the component "head" the above-mentioned phraseological units convey expressiveness and emotionality to the text. The article is up-to-date, as it’s the first time that has been carried out a contrastive analysis of phraseological units with the component "head" uncovering the similarities and differences between these two languages.
