Abstract

The article is devoted to a geopolitical interest of the Russian Federation in the South Caucasus in the context of the Armenian-Russian relations. Since the 18th century the South Caucasus has been the scene of the intersection of geopolitical and geo-economic interests of the great powers. The article analyzes the military-technical and economic aspects of Russian-Armenian cooperation within the framework of the CSTO and the EAEU, emphasizes the geopolitical importance of Armenia in this region, and also underlines the factors that make closer cooperation between these countries necessary in conditions of instability both in the South Caucasus, and in the whole world. The author draws attention to some problematic issues between Armenia and Russia, such as the sale of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan.
