THE LIMITATIONS OF THE CONCEPT OF INTERGENERATIONAL JUSTICE

Abstract

The article presents philosophical thoughts which somehow limit the concept of intergenerational justice. Since the mentioned limitations do not apply incoherently, first of all, an attempt has been made to introduce the connection between the terms "intergenerational justice" and "responsibility". Reference is made to the issue of taking responsibility for future generations, as well as to the issue of future generations having rights, in particular to the moral doctrines that exclude the need for the latters. The article addresses Parfitt’s non-identity problem as one of the limitations of the concept of intergenerational justice. The work aims at identifying the disadvantages of moral doctrines built around the concept of ​​intergenerational justice, pointing out the theoretical limitations, which in turn affect the practical field of the problem. One of the goals of the work is to raise the level of awareness on the topic among the public. The article reflects theories of justice, which uniquely presenting the clear imperative of the relations between future generations and present people, conclude that the topic of justice between generations is full of a number of gaps and limitations.
